Another iteration of the ANTI/body series, this sculpture utilizes a found mold to create a translucent surface through which what is “hidden” by the mass-produced neoclassical style can be observed. A more dynamic, and abundant view of the body as a collection of systems and biomes rather than a fixed humanistic “Self.” The use of resin, a petroleum-based product, connects the piece to the politics of resource extraction but also the conceptual Blackness of the Earth as oil (as opposed to more traditional sculptural materials) consists of the remains of living things.
